The Fish-A-Thon for Cancer started in 2009 by Ryan Bonin after finding out that a family member had been diagnosed with terminal Cancer. The first event took place on August 15, 2009 at Deer Creek Conservation Area in Norfolk County. 13 people in total fished for the day and the day ended with a BBQ and prizes for most pledges, biggest fish and a random draw. Total amount raised was $3170

The second event took place on September 4, 2010 at Deer Creek. 25 people attended the event. This year brought many great sponsors and donations including tackle packs, fishing charters and many others. Every participant walked away with a great prize pack. Total money raised for the day was close to $4500.

The 2011 event took place on July 23rd, 2011. This was a very big year for the Fish-A-Thon. Over 80 people were in attendance. Once again thanks to our amazing sponsors everybody walked away with a prize pack including 30 kids who each received a new rod, backpack, tackle and other goodies. 2012 brought us over the $20,000 mark for the total amount raised.

Schedule:

7:30am - 9am: Registration

4pm: Finish (Hand in memory cards or email photos for prizes)

4:30pm - End of evening: Kids games, BBQ

6pm: Prizes
